Bli Bli Community Association

I recently attended the Bli Bli Community Association Annual General Meeting. This event is always a highlight for Division 9 as the reports of the president, treasurer and secretary provide a terrific insight into the year’s achievements. This year the committee introduced many new events and, through excellent collaboration with other community groups, achieved great outcomes for the Bli Bli community such as the Neighbourhood Watch Walk/Run for Domestic Violence and a Maroochy Wetlands Clean Up Australia Day activity.

Official opening of Halcyon

Parklakes II in Bli Bli reached another milestone last week with the official opening of the Halcyon Lakeside Recreation Hub. I joined Mayor Mark Jamieson for the official opening and we were pleased to see yet another addition for Bli Bli community. This is an outstanding facility for the village residents, with large entertaining spaces, a gymnasium, swimming pool, home theatre, tennis courts and many other state of the art features.

Cleantech industries

Cleantech Industries Sunshine Coast (SCIC) held their AGM at Alexandra Headland, which was followed by a networking event for professionals from the cleantech industry. This was a great opportunity for new committee members to be introduced to the networking participants. With the solar farm project creating record savings and the smart city Maroochydore CBD project starting to take shape, clean technologies are becoming more prominent and better understood as a regional driving force for our economy.

Meet and greet

I’ll be outside Bli Bli IGA on April 3, from 9-11am, for my next ‘meet and greet’ session.
