Official opening at Maroochy Wetlands boardwalk
I recently had the pleasure of formally opening the newest part of the boardwalk at Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary. The new two metre wide boardwalk is suitable for wheelchairs, prams and school groups, and features a unique pier system with composite fibre decking and sub-frame that will last longer and cost less to maintain.
The Wetlands Sanctuary is an environmental haven which provides over 900m of discovery through forests, woodlands, marshes and mangroves which are only accessible via a network of paths and boardwalks. The best time to visit is May to October as the Wetlands Sanctuary is a mosquito habitat – it would make a great day out with the kids these school holidays.
Public transport for Bli Bli
The lack of bus services through Bli Bli direct to the northern townships is a topical issue at the moment – and as most people will be aware, this is a state government issue. I wholeheartedly agree that the public transport needs of the Bli Bli community are not being met and I will continue to lobby strongly for the reinstatement of the bus service.
Golf course update
I was recently invited by the Maroochy River Golf Club to view the ongoing progress with the construction of the greens and fairways and the new club facilities. After looking at the drawings and plans, and seeing the construction progress, I can see that this really is going to be a wonderful asset for the Bli Bli community. I can’t wait to see the finished product – it’s due for completion by mid-2015.
Next ‘meet and greet’
My next ‘meet and greet’ sessions are on October 7 and November 4, both at 9-11am. As always, you can come down to the River Markets for a chat about local issues.
