Cr Robinson - Bli Bli Village Centre
  • Monday 23 May 2016

Now that the local government election is over, I would like to thank the residents of Bli Bli and districts for returning me as their Division 9 councillor. After the results were counted, it was clear that I had a high level of support from residents in this area and I thank you for that. It is a great privilege to serve these wonderful communities and I look forward to working with you over the next four years.

Under the leadership of Mayor Mark Jamieson, the other councillors and I were able to generate a lot of momentum in our first term and the re-election of the Mayor and all councillors validates the great work we have achieved and will continue to achieve over the next term in office.

Bli Bli Village Centre

It’s definitely an exciting time for Bli Bli. The Bli Bli Town Centre is about to experience a significant addition with the $20 million Bli Bli Village Centre, which was approved by council earlier this year. Council officers and I have worked closely with Roz and Michael White, the developers of the Bli Bli Village Centre, to ensure we used the site as effectively as possible. Council has also committed funding to create much more modern and vibrant streetscape along David Low Way adjacent to the proposed development.

Other exciting projects

Council also provided financial support for the construction of the much anticipated Maroochy River Rowing Clubhouse, which was recently opened at Muller Park. Congratulations to Russell and Donna Muller for their outstanding passion and dedication in making their dream and that of many young rowers a reality.

We also recently had the formal opening of the unique Indigenous themed children’s playground in Muller Park, which was also funded and constructed by council.  It is so wonderful to see so many families enjoying themselves in such a great fun environment.

Other key local projects approved and completed by council in recent weeks include the replacement of the roof of the Old Schoolmasters Building and other improvements in the pipeline. An upgrade to the Maroochy Wetland Interpretive Centre is now making great progress with the design and development.

I’m sure a number of locals will also be pleased to hear I will continue to work with the State Government on the construction of the pathway from Muller Park to Godfrey’s Road as well as lobby for improved bus services.

We definitely have some exciting times ahead and I look forward to working alongside local businesses, residents, community, sporting and environmental groups, to ensure we make a positive contribution to Bli Bli in the coming years.
