Celebrating a contemporary civic centre
It was a very proud moment for me to launch stage one of the Jack Morgan Park project, which included refurbishment of the Coolum Civic Centre. It was also terrific to have Mayor Mark Jamieson back in Coolum to officially open the centre and acknowledge all the wonderful partners who made this project a reality. I believe this project will create a real community hub and meeting place for the Coolum and district community, and I would encourage everyone to take the time to visit this exciting addition to the Coolum township.
A busy year for business
At this year’s Coolum Business and Tourism AGM, the outgoing president, Noel Mooney, listed a huge range of achievements for the business community in the area. In my opinion, CB&T is one of the most proactive business groups in the region. Their collective support of the many events and community activities really do ensure the success of these occasions, which in turn supports our local businesses. I would like to congratulate Noel for his leadership and the committee for their hard work in promoting the Coolum and districts area.
Noosa on Weyba wraps up
It was a pleasure to be invited to the Friends of Lake Weyba campaign wrap up. It was lovely to receive personal feedback from the group on my speech and subsequent vote against the proposed development. Now that the legal matters have been finalised, the group is looking to encourage alternative and environmentally responsible solutions for this location. I will be doing my best to help achieve these aspirations.
Drop in and say hello
My next Coolum meet and greet is on Wednesday 21 October from 1-3pm at the library.
