Coolum pool reopens
It was great to see the pool at the Coolum Aquatic Centre open following its recent upgrade. I think everyone will be thrilled with the new look – the new tiling job makes it look like a brand new pool and the additional lane, which takes the total to nine, will help meet the growing demand.
Library upgrade progress
Avid Coolum Library users will have noticed the interim move to the new library extension, to allow for the upgrade to the original building. I think everyone will agree this extension is going to create a great reading and research environment. The project is expected to be completed in just a few weeks and I can't wait to help open it to the public.
Celebrating Coolum boardwalk
Congratulations to John Fuller on the launch of The Coolum Boardwalk book. It was a real honour to attend the official launch of this outstanding publication, which tells the story of the first 10 years of this brilliant community project. The photographs in this book are stunning and showcase the beauty of the boardwalk and its location in many different ways.
Welcome to our new citizens
Coolum State School played host to council’s most recent citizenship ceremony, where 155 new citizens were welcomed from 26 countries. It was a special event with Mayor Mark Jamieson presiding, and plenty of family and friends attending to join the celebrations.
Meet and greet
Come along to Coolum Library to say hello on October 18 from 1-3pm.
