Draft Parking Management Plan

Council manages a number of on and off-street car park spaces and every new car park space can cost up to $30,000 to construct. So it’s important to make the best use of the car park spaces we have now. With that in mind, I encourage residents to have a look at the draft Parking Management Plan and provide feedback on future solutions by May 5. You can view a full copy of the draft plan and local area plans on council’s website.

Kids teaching kids

Council’s Kids in Action event brings schools together to explore local environmental issues in a fantastic format where the students teach each other. Bli Bli State School will participate for the first time this year. They were also the winner of the early bird registration draw and received an iPad prize that I’m sure will come in useful for various activities. I would encourage any schools that haven’t registered to visit council’s website and do so.

CBD boosts regional jobs

In great news for the region, the civil construction works in the new Maroochydore City Centre will create more than 150 jobs over the next 12 months. These works, which include new roads, footpaths, lighting, parks and landscaping, will cost $25 million.

Meet and greet

I’ll be at the Bli Bli River Markets on Tuesday May 2 from 9-11am if you would like to come along to chat about local issues and council projects.
