Give Me 5 for Kids
What a great morning we had at the River Markets Shopping Centre attending the 92.7 MixFM live broadcast for the Give Me 5 for Kids charity. Local residents turned out in great numbers to listen to Mark and Caroline, enjoy a barbecue breakfast and giveaways, and donate much-needed funds for this worthwhile cause. Well done to everyone who contributed to the overall fundraising efforts throughout June – $300,000 was raised for child health services and equipment for the children’s ward at the hospital.

Connecting Edgewater to the Castle
Work on the first stage of the new pathway between Edgewater Village and Bli Bli Castle is nearing completion. This is a complex project due to the different levels of pathway, but it’s looking fantastic and the feature rock retaining walls are a real highlight. A further $500,000 of work will be done on the next stage extension throughout this financial year.

Ahead for Bli Bli
Speaking of the 2014-15 financial year, council’s budget will deliver a number of great projects for Bli Bli and the wider Division 9. These include the $1.1M sealing of Sports Road, $200,000 for a new playground at Muller Park and $65,000 to further continue the boardwalk at Maroochy Wetlands.

Maroochy Wetlands Boardwalk
The current stage of the major boardwalk upgrade at the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary is now complete. This new boardwalk is wider and safer, and really improves the experience for visitors as they explore the beautiful native flora and fauna. If you haven’t been, it’s worth a visit for the diverse forests, marsh, mangroves and variety of animals, including over 200 types of birds. And if you have been, it’s worth checking out the new boardwalk!

‘Meet and greet’
My Bli Bli ‘meet and greet’ continues to be popular, giving me the opportunity to discuss lots of local issues with residents. Issues discussed at my last meeting include enquiries about progress of the David Low Way footpath, progress on the golf course, and the recent announcement of the Maroochy River Rowing Club’s new lease at Muller Park. Come along for a chat at my next ‘meet and greet’ on August 5 from 9-11am – I’ll be outside the IGA again.
