Funding for the future
It was terrific to be invited as a keynote speaker for the Advance Queensland Regional Innovation Project. This exciting State Government initiative provides funding of up to $500,000 over three years, to be matched by regions. If the Sunshine Coast is a successful applicant, this funding will be directed to support and foster innovation and local entrepreneurs. Council is collaborating with key regional stakeholders to provide a single submission to secure this much-needed funding.
Celebrating our students
It was again a thrill to attend the Bli Bli State School Grade 6 graduation ceremony. These evenings are a celebration of our future leaders’ talent and success. You can't help but be impressed with the confidence and enthusiasm of these young graduates as they embark upon their high school education. I would like to congratulate Principal Gerard Quinn and the wonderful teachers and parents at the Bli Bli State School for hosting such a great event.
This year's Bli Bli Community Association Christmas Carols event was a beauty. With a capacity crowd, lots of stalls displaying local wares, amusement rides, fireworks and the traditional carols, it was a night to remember. These type of events are all about the community coming together to celebrate the end of another year and share in the joys of the festive season. My wife Jeanne and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to working with you all in the new year.
