Gluten Free Bakehouses expands
Another local business has expanded here on the Sunshine Coast, creating more jobs. Earlier this month I was pleased to join family-owned Gluten Free Bakehouse at their Kunda Park factory for the official opening and a tour of the factory, which was in full production. The company employs 26 staff here locally, which is set to grow to 45 in the next four years.
Local company wins export award
I recently met with the CEO of Typeify, Mr Chandi Perera, to discuss the company’s recent success in Small Business category of the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards, as well as their future aspirations for expanding locally.
Typefi was founded on the Sunshine Coast in 2001 and is now a global leader in automated publishing software. It’s another great example of fantastic local companies growing in our region.
A big year for events
It was great to attend the Sunshine Coast Events Board end of year function at Twin Waters, which was an opportunity to celebrate its achievements over the last 12 months. The board members, including Chairman Ralph Devlin, are all hardworking volunteers who are attracting fantastic events to our region. The board was instrumental in recent success stories including the Sunshine Coast Lightning netball team, the Velothon cycling event, NetFest and the National Marathon Titles for outrigging. We also met with General Manager of Novotel Steve Wellsteed to get an overview of the venue’s new project, a major extension to the convention area – it will be an exciting addition to our region.
