This year’s Horizon Festival is almost here and promises to be an outstanding arts and culture event. There are so many quality experiences on offer and I encourage everyone to take a look at the program to see what events interest you. The festival runs from August 25 to September 3. Head to horizonfestival.com.au for details.
Live and connected
The Sunshine Coast Solar Farm is now live and feeding electricity into the grid. I was pleased to be part of the official ‘plugging in’ on Monday July 24. It was great to see a number of local residents who’ve been part of the journey in recent years also in attendance. I feel the community BBQs and information sessions really helped locals understand the benefits of a utility scale solar farm for the region.
Major Community and Environment Levy Grants
Now is the time to apply for a Community and Environment Levy Grant. The grants program provides great financial assistance to not-for-profit community organisations for projects that benefit the Sunshine Coast community. Visit council’s website for grants guidelines and links to online applications. Applications close August 28. Contact a grants officer for assistance on 07 5420 8616 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meet and Greet
My next ‘Meet and Greet’ is at Coolum Library on Wednesday, September 13 from 1-3pm. It's a great opportunity to chat with me about all things council related, I hope to see you there!
