Meals on Wheels Christmas BBQ

With Christmas fast approaching, it was terrific to attend the Coolum Beach Meals on Wheels end of year barbecue. This event celebrates the outstanding support provided by Coolum Beach and district volunteers. In what has turned out to be a record year of deliveries, this wonderful group of community-minded individuals supported many people who need this valuable service.  I would personally like to congratulate President Rob Cobb and his management committee for their ongoing dedication to our communities.

An evening at St Andrews

I had a wonderful night at the awards ceremony for St Andrew’s Anglican College primary students. As always, this event provided some fantastic highlights of the school’s year – it was great to see photos of the student’s many and varied activities throughout the year including a trip to Beijing for some lucky students. A performance by the concert band and one of the young students was terrific and the awards presentation was a real treat. You can’t help but be impressed at these events – the students’ achievements were incredible and an inspiration to everyone who attended.

I would like to congratulate Reverend Chris Ivey and his great band of teachers, who continue to support and encourage the leaders of our future.

Christmas in the Park

I joined Senior Pastor Rod Holt and some performers last week to launch Coolum Christmas in the Park. This event has been organised by the Coolum Christian Family Church for 17 years and Council is proud to be a sponsor. The church has done a great job growing it into one of the Coast’s most strongly supported carol events.

Make sure you head along to Tickle Park at 7-9pm on December 13. It will be a fun night of entertainment for the whole family.

Merry Christmas

My wife Jeanne and I would like to wish the Coolum and districts community a happy Christmas and New Year. I look forward to working with you all in 2015.
