Arts in Eumundi
I had a good time at the recent Regional Cultural Stakeholders meeting in Eumundi. It was an opportunity for arts and cultural representatives from across the region to get together, showcase innovative projects and build partnerships to create exciting new initiatives for our region. This event also coincided with the unveiling of the Eumundi Sculpture Prize winner.
Yandina fire management meeting
This fire management meeting was held after Ninderry residents expressed concerns about possible bushfires on or near Mt Ninderry. I would like to thank Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, the local Rural Fire Brigade and SEQ Catchments who provided expert advice and answered residents’ questions.
We need work collaboratively to identify emergency management options in the event of a bushfire, and this meeting was a forum for that. The brochures and other collateral provided will help the community prepare their properties for such an emergency and understand local evacuation points. It’s important to take personal responsibility for your own house and land and consider options to reduce the fuel load in this area.
A great night was had by all at the ECCO annual general meeting and Christmas celebration. It’s clear that Eumundi has had another successful year with its community and business initiatives. ECCO has been largely responsible for this success and I would like to congratulate Anthony and the committee for working hard to ensure Eumundi remains one of the Sunshine Coast’s iconic tourist destinations.
On behalf of my wife Jeanne and myself, we would like to wish the Eumundi and districts community a happy Christmas and New Year. I look forward to working with you all in 2015.
