Recognising our achievers

One of the most enjoyable nights of my year is the annual Coolum State High School awards night. Last Wednesday night, we were able to recognise the school’s 2016 high achievers in the academic arena as well as a range of other fields. It’s always an honour to present some of the awards and hear about the outstanding achievements of our future leaders and those who are no doubt destined for further success. Best of luck to all of Coolum’s year 12 graduates as you set your sights on the next stage of your lives.

Teaming up with our police

Our dedicated police in Coolum do a marvellous job and council is keen to give them even more assistance to make the town an even better place to live in and visit. Recently I met with Senior Sergeant Hardy Wirth to discuss local issues and projects that council may be able to undertake including improved lighting, better fencing and upgraded and safer access to public areas. I look forward to bringing you more updates as we continue to develop our relationship with our local police.

Carnival well supported

The Coolum State School carnival was another spectacular event which received great support from local businesses and residents. Thousands enjoyed the fun and entertainment which helped to raise much-needed funds for the school. Congratulations and well done to principal Pat Cavanagh, the school’s staff and the P&C Association.

Come say hello

My next meet and greet will be at the Coolum Library between 1-3pm on November 9. Please come along and have a chat.
