Council’s 2014/15 budget was recently handed down and there’s plenty to like for Nambour residents.
The Windsor Road Project has been been allocated $995,000 for construction of a roundabout at the entrance to the Nambour TAFE. This roundabout is the first piece of infrastructure that will enable a future linkup between Windsor Road and the Nambour/Mapleton Road. It’ll also improve travel safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
A further $400,000 has been allocated to the sealing of the gravel section of Windsor Road over the next two years.
The Nambour youth activity precinct will continue to progress with a further $225,000 to be spent on finalising stage one including the skate park and youth activity elements. The adjoining ‘Heroes Walk’ war memorial will also be completed in time for next year’s 100 year ANZAC celebrations.
The Nambour Showgrounds terraces project will also take shape, with $250,000 allocated for Stage two works. In Netherton Street, $335,000 has been allocated for construction of an extension to the existing car park. The Nambour Aquatic Centre will undergo $163,000 of upgrades and improvements and the Nambour Cemetery will have its access road renewed ($86,000).
The Sunshine Coast Careers Expo is the largest, longest running and most comprehensive event of its kind locally. Now in its 12th year, the expo will once again provide important info on tertiary study and career options and training opportunities from more than 80 exhibitors.
