Cr Rogerson - Budget puts Division 10 on right road
  • Thursday 03 July 2014

Among the really pleasing wins for Division 10 in the new 2014/15 council budget is the funding for important road upgrades. There will be $995,000 spent on the Windsor Road project that will provide safety improvements and a vital step towards a much needed link to the Nambour / Mapleton Road. A further $400,000 has been allocated to the sealing of the gravel section of Windsor Road over the next two years.

A 1.1km section of Delicia Road at Mapleton will also be sealed from the McLeod Road intersection to the Daymar Road intersection. Linda  Garrett Park, Teralba and the Mapleton cemetery all sit along this stretch and draw significant traffic to justify the sealing of this road surface. So I’m rapt for the Hinterland community that this $1million sealing project has the green light.

Volunteers needed!

The Kureelpa Hall Committee Annual General Meeting is coming up and now is the time to think about whether you’d like be a part of this important community organisation. The existing committee members have all held their positions for a number of years and all portfolios will become vacant at the AGM. New people with fresh ideas and enthusiasm are welcome to put their hand up to assist with continuing the management of this great community facility. The AGM will be held at the Kureelpa Hall on Tuesday, August 19 at 7:30pm. Please consider offering some time for your community.

Halls Creek forum

As you’re probably aware, the State Government has asked the Sunshine Coast Community to consider two areas on the southern end of the coast – Halls Creek and the Beerwah Caloundra South Corridor – for possible future urban expansion. Needless to say, this is a very important issue with big implications for the future of the Sunshine Coast. To ensure you’re armed with all the facts about this, a community forum will be held on Thursday July 3 from 7pm to 9pm at the CCSA Hall at 2 Nutley St Caloundra.

This event will enable you to hear directly from relevant planning and environmental experts and to ask questions of our Mayor and local members Mark McArdle and Andrew Powell.

See you round the region, Rogo!
