Have your say and help Nambour thrive

Now is your chance to have your say on Nambour’s future. The Draft Nambour Activation Plan Make outlines ideas to help energise Nambour and make it a thriving and extraordinary place. The plan highlights five distinct areas in the town. These are Howard Street – the Tracks; Town Square and High Streets; The Forecourt/Currie Street – the little Brunswick Street; C–Square – arts and entertainment mecca; and Petrie Creek Parklands - town touching nature. Two great ideas are an aquatic fun park and a fun makeover for the library forecourt. You can view the plan and complete a survey in various shops and cafes in town, at the library or at

A triumph for TrackFest

I am unbelievably proud of the Nambour community and everyone who put in the hard yards to make the inaugural TrackFest such wonderful success. Thank you also to everyone who came along to support what was a great social event for Nambour and hinterland residents and for people from across the Sunshine Coast. So many people walking around also meant great exposure for our local businesses.

It was the official launch of fundraising efforts to generate the $600,000 required for the Nambour Heritage Tram project and the festivities were captured on film by Adam Finney of Barking Owl, who is developing a crowdfunding promotional video to help the fundraising efforts along.

I started the fund with a personal cheque of $1000, and Bendigo Bank and Michael Foley followed, each contributing much appreciated donations of $500. I would ask anyone out there with a love and respect for our town to consider donating towards this community-focused project. Bendigo Bank has set up two financial thermometers so we can all keep an eye on the progress. There will be one with the $600,000 target and one with $50,000 increments to provide stepping-stone goals along the way.

We identified a few things to be improved at future events, including a need for more food stalls and seating and future events and I thank everyone for their feedback. Make sure you save the date for the next TrackFest. It’s on Saturday September 5.
