Cr Rogerson retiring Keith a cut above
  • Wednesday 14 February 2018

Well I hope everyone had a fantastic, safe and healthy Christmas and New Year!

Community garden can grow our community

The developers of Maroo Pocket, a recently completed  small rural-residential subdivision at Dulong, have generously donated a 900 square metre block to Council for the purpose of creating a community garden for residents of Dulong and surrounding areas.

As there are already numerous individual community groups within the Dulong area (all with some conflicting views of one another!) I am eager to implement a stand-alone community garden group to facilitate the implementation of this terrific opportunity.

Council will be providing a gazebo shelter with picnic tables, a small tool shed and appropriate garden equipment. So all we need now are genuinely interested and passionate gardeners!

If you’d like to be part of this exciting new venture please contact council’s community development department on 54757272 or

In your neighbourhood..

The Nambour Aquatic Centre 25m pool is currently having its tiles replaced. The new tiles have been laid and look fantastic! Some minor works to clean out expansion joints and apply new sealant are currently being carried out the pool will be ready for use by the end of January.

A new public amenity toilet building is currently being installed in Cilento Park on Waterfalls Road. Temporary facilities are being provided and the new building should be ready by the end of March.

Keith Lipke – a cut above for 80 years!

On a very sad yet proud note, I wish to acknowledge the unbelievable service provided to the Nambour and District Community by the hairdresser Keith Lipke and give everyone the ‘heads up’ that Keith is retiring.

Mr Lipke, who has seen 80 years come and go will cut his last head of hair (well commercially at least!) on the Saturday morning of the 27th January. If you’re in the vicinity of Keith’s Nambour, Queen Street Salon on or near this day, please go in and pat this man on the back and shake his hand on his wonderful contribution to Nambour!

See you in the valley soon, Rogo.
