Save the dates!

Two of Nambour’s great traditions are just around the corner, firstly the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show from June 16-18 and the Queensland Garden Expo on July 7-9.

Also, please keep your fingers, toes and any other suitable part of your anatomy crossed for lovely weather on Saturday July 15 for the next “Tramfest” event from 5pm and 9pm.  Howard Street will come alive with three excellent bands and a myriad of fine food stalls.

Come along, party and help Nambour get it’s Tram.

We have the best park in Queensland!

Nambour can now lay claim to the best park in Queensland after the Quota Park Youth Activity Precinct & Heroes Walk won the state’s top prize at the recent Parks & Leisure Australia Awards of Excellence! It was named Queensland’s ‘Park of the Year’, adding yet another chapter to what has been a terrific success story since this facility opened in 2014. Council worked closely with the Nambour RSL and young people throughout the region in developing the Quota Park Youth Activity Precinct and Heroes Walk.

We created a wonderful theme by installing iconic industrial relics from the old Moreton Sugar Mill that operated in Nambour for more than 100 years. The end product is a truly unique and innovative precinct which incorporates a skate park and youth activity areas with a modern day War Memorial that proudly displays the untold stories of local heroes who served our region and country.

Since this precinct opened, visitation levels have doubled compared to the old skate park location and police have reported a significant drop in crime levels and vandalism. Regular ‘learn to skate’ programs are also held at the skate park.

The adjacent Nambour RSL regularly utilities the Heroes’ Walk during ANZAC Day and other commemorative events and the RSL has reported increased numbers to its ANZAC Day Dawn Service and morning parades. The precinct now goes into the running for the Australian ‘Park of the Year’ award which is announced later this year!

Rounding off for now, Rogo.
