Vision for Mooloolaba

Developed with input from our local businesses and community, the Place Making Mooloolaba Plan outlines a long-term vision to revitalise this iconic area.  The plan retains Mooloolaba’s natural aspects and includes 40% more public space, 2.4 kilometres of enhanced waterfront pathways and extra space for events. It will also help create a vibrant place with better pedestrian access, cycle links and car parking, and a stimulated local economy.  The detailed master plan can be viewed on council’s website.

Mooloolaba’s newest bikeway

The multi-million dollar Mooloolaba-Minayama separated bikeway is now open, providing a safe cycling route for families, commuters, school children and recreational bike riders.  Jointly funded by council and the State Government under the Cycle Network Grants Program, the two lane bikeway is helping to close the gaps in the Coastal Pathway between Coolum and Caloundra.

Tenders for Brisbane Road car park

Consultation with locals, businesses, business owners and staff highlighted the need for improved car parking in Mooloolaba to help revitalise the area and provide a more positive experience. Council is seeking to expand the Brisbane Road car park from the current 176 car parks to more than 500 public car spaces and invitations to tender for the redevelopment are now out. Council expects to award a tender by mid-2016.

Thank you and farewell

It has been an honour to represent the division 4 community over the past 12 years.  I appreciate the support and encouragement I have received as your local councillor and have especially enjoyed the opportunity to work with, and on behalf of, our passionate community and business groups to help make division four and the region an even better place to live, work and have a great time.
