Mayor Jamieson - Check out our Bushland Botanic Garden
  • Thursday 17 January 2019

A much-loved destination on our Sunshine Coast is the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Garden which provides much more than many would expect.

Set on 82 hectares at Tanawha, it's a wonderful community asset that I always enjoy visiting.

The garden connects us with nature and provides opportunities for environmental learning by showing how we can care for our natural world.

It’s a centre for art and cultural activities and home to a number of species of frogs, reptiles and mammals as well as birds, butterflies and moths.

And the Maroochy Arts and Ecology Centre is a great example of sustainable architecture and landscape design as well as being a great place to hold meetings, creative workshops and social activities.

This would not be possible however, without the work and support of the Friends of the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Garden who have worked in partnership with council to make it such a special place in our healthy, smart, creative region.

I know many of the Friends have volunteered for a number of years – and several from the beginning in 1999.

Please put a visit on your calendar.
