Mayor Jamieson - Community infrastructure projects in anniversary year
  • Wednesday 27 December 2017

While our 50th Anniversary of the Naming of the Sunshine Coast celebrations are about to come to a close, we have many completed infrastructure projects from the commemoration year that will provide us with reminders for years to come.

In 2017, and this is just a small sample, we've opened new projects for our community such as the Rainforest Discovery Centre at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve at Maleny, the expansion of the Coolum Library, the new skate park at Alexandra Headland, an expanded Sunshine Coast Stadium at Kawana and a roundabout which has greatly improved the traffic flow at Forest Glen.

The latest addition is the new amphitheatre at Buderim Village Park which has already proven to be a wonderful venue by hosting the annual Christmas carols.

Council’s vision for this park has seen it grow from a vacant block of land to one of our region’s best district-level parks over the past five years.

It’s a great complement to the local Buderim lifestyle, as well as a drawcard for visitors.

I'm sure it will receive plenty of use throughout 2018 and beyond.

Happy New Year everyone!
