It's been a huge and successful week for Commonwealth Games activity here on our Sunshine Coast.
We officially welcomed our 500 visiting athletes, coaches and officials at our Festival of Champions community event at Cotton Tree Park on Sunday where a huge crowd had the chance to mingle with those they will see in action on the Gold Coast next month.
On Tuesday, it was the Coast's chance to host the Queen's Baton Relay as it made its way towards the opening ceremony is less than a fortnight.
The highlight was the community celebration at the Kings Beach Amphitheatre and seeing the pride felt by our 25 baton bearers and their family and friends as they carried the baton through Caloundra.
Our visiting teams have been lavish in their praise for the welcome they have received from their home away from home, especially from our local schoolchildren who have really embraced their role as hosts.
And it’s been wonderful to hear the stories and see the pictures of our visitors getting out and about, meeting the locals and seeing all that our Sunshine Coast has to offer.
Well done everyone.
