A symbolic Moringa tree is now growing in the grounds of the Caloundra Community Centre following the launch of the Sunshine Coast Multicultural Action Plan.
The Moringa is one of the world’s most important food security plants with its young seed pods and leaves used as vegetables.
It can also be used for water purification and hand washing, and is sometimes used in herbal medicine.
The Moringa is considered a "global tree" and its presence at Caloundra symbolises the intent of the the Multicultural Action Plan "to recognise, respect and embrace diverse cultures, and to strive to strengthen the resilience and prosperity of our multicultural Sunshine Coast".
The regional action plan coordinates, builds relationships and strengthens networks and partnerships between council, sector agencies and community groups.
Importantly, it demonstrates that by working together we will ensure we build and support an even stronger Sunshine Coast community - one that is healthy, smart and creative.
Our thanks go to everyone who helped in the creation of the Multicultural Action Plan.
