One of my favourite events to attend each year is when we see the results produced by the Sunshine Coast's most innovative young minds in the Mayor’s Telstra Technology Awards.
The 2018 awards, which showcase new or creative uses of technology, are now open for students in years 10-12 who attend a school in our Sunshine Coast Council region.
As well as the enjoyment of taking part, they will have the chance to share in $10,000 in cash and prizes.
To be a healthy, smart, creative region, it’s critical we provide a platform for young people to develop their ideas, entrepreneurial skills and networks.
And that's what these awards do as well as being a great opportunity for our students to learn, network, collaborate with mentors and industry professionals, and gain real life experiences.
We know many of the jobs and careers of the future haven’t even been created yet and they will be shaped by our best young minds.
My thanks go to Telstra for their continuing support of these awards.
