Mayor Jamieson - Meeting our outstanding students
  • Thursday 24 November 2016

One of the very pleasant duties our councillors get to enjoy at this time of year is attending the various graduation and speech nights held by our local schools.

We are very fortunate to have so many outstanding educational facilities in our region and our visits to meet the students and staff always provide some memorable moments.

Since graduation night season started in late October, I've enjoyed being a guest at Chancellor State College, Caloundra State High School, Nambour Christian College, St John's College Nambour and Suncoast Christian College - with more to come.

What has stood out at each school is that we have hundreds of very intelligent and engaged students heading into further education and the workforce.

They have their sights firmly on the future and can see the pathways we are developing here on the Coast for their future careers.

Another standout feature is the great cohesion that exists between the students and the dedicated teaching staff.

It's all helping to build capable, confident young people who will do their families and our region proud.

Best of luck!
