Mayor Jamieson - Welcoming our new ambassadors
  • Thursday 22 March 2018

As mayor, I'm fortunate to meet and chat to some wonderful individuals and groups who contribute so much to our Sunshine Coast.

Last week was one of those opportunities when we officially welcomed the new Study Sunshine Coast ambassadors who will showcase our region to the world.

Studying across a range of education institutions, including the University of the Sunshine Coast, CQUniversity, TAFE Queensland and local schools, the nine ambassadors are already keenly tackling their task of highlighting the benefits of studying on our Coast to both domestic and international audiences.

Through the various social media channels, they share the experiences they enjoy in our region, which is a crucial part of our strategy for attracting more international students and those from other parts of the country.

Research shows that up to four friends and family visit for every student who opts to study here. That's a significant contribution to our tourist numbers and economic growth.

My thanks go to our new ambassadors for signing on for 2018.
