100 days for new council
  • Wednesday 25 June 2008

Today marks the 100th day of operation of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

Mayor Bob Abbot said this is a very important milestone for the new Council.

“We are making history as we go about creating a Council that the community and staff can be proud of,” Cr Abbot said.

“We have reached the first 100 days and we are ready to tackle the exciting challenges ahead with a focus on customer service.

“The start to our new organisation has been very impressive in terms of the efforts of our people in delivering great outcomes on the ground during large scale change.”

The Mayor, Councillors, CEO, Executive Team and staff have taken the opportunity to reflect on the significant achievements and progress that the new Council has made in such a short time.

CEO John Knaggs said with so much happening, it’s important for staff to catch their breath and enjoy a few well-deserved pats on the back.

“With the Mayor, I have had the opportunity to be out and about today visiting a range of workplaces to touch base with staff, share some of the good news stories, and listen to people’s thoughts and ideas on the 100 days past and the opportunities ahead,” Mr Knaggs said.

“All staff can be proud of the great start they’ve given to the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

“At this 100 day milestone, I congratulate everyone on the success of their efforts and their commitment to the local community.

“Clearly there are still many challenges ahead of us, however there is great goodwill and the journey is off to a positive start.”
