A master plan for the Nambour Showgrounds
  • Tuesday 15 January 2013

Sunshine Coast Council is preparing a master plan for the Nambour Showgrounds to provide direction on how the site will look and function in the future.

Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said the Nambour Showgrounds is an iconic facility in the region and it’s important that people have their say about its future direction.

“People who live and work around the Showgrounds will have a keen interest in the master plan process and I’m sure a number of people in the wider community will also want to provide their input,” Cr Rogerson said.

“There is a lot to consider when preparing a master plan, so we would like to hear as many views and ideas as possible about future possibilities.

“Nambour Showgrounds is a large multi-purpose facility supported by three ovals and a grandstand, equestrian node, tennis courts, badminton courts, catering facilities, and a range of function spaces that host a mix of community and recreational events.

“The master plan will set out a vision for the future function of the Showgrounds including a series of actions that can be implemented in order to achieve the vision.

“The feedback we receive from the community will be evaluated and used to inform preparation of a Draft Nambour Showgrounds Master Plan. The draft master plan is expected to be available for community review in April 2013.”

There are a number of ways to provide input to help shape the future of the Nambour Showgrounds. Visit council’s website for more information or join the on-line discussion.
