Sunshine Coast Council’s Development Indicators Report provides an in-depth look into development activity on the Coast and is available on council’s website.
Regional Planning Portfolio Councillor Russell Green said the recently released Development Indicators Report includes a comprehensive full year summary of development activity on the Sunshine Coast in 2012.
“The report profiles the volume of development and contains information on town planning, subdivision, building and construction activity,” Cr Green said.
“It’s a technical report that presents statistical information in a series of graphs and charts about the several types of development applications that council receives and assesses including reconfiguring lots, material change of use, operational works, plans for subdivision, plumbing and regulatory building applications.
“It’s not exactly light reading and is likely to appeal to people in the development industry interested in the detail about development activity in 2012.
“You’ll find statistics like the total number of approved lots was 962 and the number of new lots created and released was 1,184.
“The start of council’s free pre-lodgement meeting service saw a leap in the number of meetings made in the second half of the year - up from 49 between January and June to 109 between July and December.
“Significant developments were approved in 2012 for Nambour including a new Coles and Aldi in Nambour. The new golf course at Bli Bli was approved as was a large 160 lot subdivision at Meridan Plains.
“Well over 90% of applications were decided within 40 business days which is a great result from our Regional Strategy and Planning team and it’s great news for our customers who are always pleased to get a quick response on their application.”
