X-Factor sensation, Andrew Lawson is headlining Sunshine Coast Council’s free family event, Carols at Cotton Tree on Saturday 3 December.

Locally well known singer songwriter Andrew Lawson will take centre stage and deliver a performance guaranteed to captivate the 5,000 people expected to attend Cotton Tree Park for the festive season celebrations.

Andrew Lawson rose to fame following his success on reality television show X-Factor in 2010. Andrew’s performances blew away both the judges and Australia and saw him finish third in the season grand final. Andrew has recently wrapped up touring with Leo Sayer and Taylor Dayne on her Australian tour.

The Carols at Cotton Tree program boasts an exciting line up of talented performers and children’s entertainment, including a special guest appearance from Santa himself.

Local favourites Angelic Cooke and the Buderim Male Choir will provide supporting entertainment for the evening.

Brett Campbell will have the youngsters dancing and singing as he is joined onstage by Santa as part of his self-titled Christmas show.

Executive Director Community Services, Coralie Nichols said this year’s Festive Season has a great range of activities and entertainment for all the community to enjoy.

"Council, through its Festive Season Strategy, supports activities and events which reflect the cultural values, diversity and lifestyle of our region’s communities," Ms Nichols said.

"People can visit council’s website to find the Christmas Tree Trail and Festive Season Event Guide. There is a map and interesting information about each of the 29 Christmas trees across the region and you can also find out what community festive events are occurring in your local area."

Evening festivities commence with roving entertainment from 5.30pm followed by the carols program from 6.30pm.

A spectacular fireworks extravaganza at 8.30pm will end the evening with a colourful bang.

Bring a blanket and picnic basket or purchase food and drinks provided by local community organisations. The night is an alcohol and glass free event.

Full program information and event details can be found on council’s website.
