Apply now for commercial use of public land
  • Saturday 02 March 2013

Now is the time for local businesses to apply for a three year permit to operate commercially on public land with applications closing on 2 April 2013.

Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson is encouraging both new and existing business to apply to undertake a range of activities at specific locations on the Coast.

“The primary purpose of public land is for community use and enjoyment and permits are awarded to activities that are of benefit to the community,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“Council has designated a number of locations across the region where commercial businesses can operate on council owned public land. There are also specific, approved activities that can be undertaken at each location, ranging from surf schools and sky diving to beach equipment hire and coffee vans.

“A list of the approved locations and activities are included in an information pack that provides comprehensive information about the application process. I encourage you to pick up an information pack or take part in an information session, if you are thinking about applying for this business opportunity.”

Council is holding information sessions throughout March for local businesses thinking about applying for a commercial use permit who want to know more about the application process.

The sessions will provide prospective business operators with an understanding of the application process and council’s expectations about application responses.

Bookings are essential and can be made at council’s website. Information sessions are at council offices in the Fred Murray Building, Currie Street, Nambour at these dates and times:

  • 4 March 9am to 11am
