Arts community invited to cultural warming event

Sunshine Coast Council will host a Cultural Warming arts dinner on 27 June 2012 that promises local entertainment and a networking opportunity for artists, musicians, creative industry workers and the community.

Deputy Mayor Chris Thompson said council is committed to developing partnerships and alliances to drive arts and cultural opportunities across the region.

“The dinner is the first of a series and is a chance for everyone in the arts community to get together, meet others in the field and to share ideas,” he said.

“Council is keen to help foster and encourage artistic creativity which will brand the region as a cultural hub.

“We will also be acknowledging and celebrating the recipients of the latest Regional Arts Development Fund round.

“The dinner will also highlight council policy and programs which are available to the arts community.

“The free evening will also showcase some of the high caliber of local musicians and performers we are lucky to have on the Coast.

“A slide-show of artist’s works will also be projected throughout the evening and we are calling for artists who would like to include their work to contact our Creative Communities team.

“We look forward to welcoming the arts community for the first arts dinner in our calendar.”

The Cultural Warming evening will be held in the Nambour CWA Hall from 6pm to 9pm on Wednesday 27 June 2012. Some food will be provided however people are asked to bring a plate to share and a cash bar will be available. RSVP is required by phoning 5441 8352 or by emailing
