Katie Patrick, one of Australia’s leading environmental entrepreneurs and a powerhouse on environmental innovation, will be a keynote speaker at this year’s Glossies Award on Saturday 26 June.
In 2006, Katie founded Green Pages Australia, the country’s first sustainable directory. With more than 8,000 businesses now listed on the online and published directory, the Green Pages have evolved to become the nation’s foremost resource for people looking for sustainable goods and services – everything from baby clothes to building products.
Having worked as a model, a chef, and even a koala-suited fundraiser, Katie entered the construction industry as a building project manager, advising developers and construction giants on how to make their projects more sustainable. It was during this phase in her early 20s that she realised the need for a comprehensive directory with quantifiable "green" criteria.
Katie will be sharing her inspiring personal journey with award recipients and guests at The Events Centre.
The Green Pages are a major sponsor of the event, along with the University of the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE, TravelSmart, and Noosa Biosphere.
The Awards, which are hosted by the Sunshine Coast Council and will close next week (Tuesday 15 June), are the premier accolade recognising and celebrating sustainability achievements of Sunshine Coast residents, community groups and businesses.
Tickets can be booked by calling The Event Centre on 5491 4240.
