Everything from simple marketing strategies to event production will be on the agenda at the Sunshine Coast Events Network (scene) educational workshop held at The Events Centre @ Maroochy (Maroochy RSL) from 1.30pm on Wednesday, May 7.
Open to anyone interested in events, Sunshine Coast Council’s scene program is aimed at those who are new to the events industry, are looking to run a new event or would like to further develop existing events or skill sets.
The first scene workshop for 2014 entitled centre stage won’t disappoint with two professional industry presenters primed to share their experience.
Back by popular demand is Leah Squire author of Marketing with no money and founder of family travel company BYOKids. Leah will share her story of how she built her company on a marketing budget of zero and outline simple marketing strategies by using free tools and resources.
Leah will be joined by Jaia Conte from Avcom Staging who will talk about the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of production and programming for event staging. Jaia has extensive production experience working at major events such as the Darwin Festival, St Kilda Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and is currently working in corporate audio visual and events.
Bookings for the workshop are essential. Cost to attend is $30 per person and $25 for students or pensioners, including a delicious afternoon tea.
Visit council’s website for further information on scene and to RSVP, or subscribe to the scene e-newsletter to receive updates, information on upcoming events and industry tips and tricks (type ‘subscribe scene’ in the subject line).
scene is proudly supported by Business Events Sunshine Coast, the University of the Sunshine Coast and Sunshine Coast TAFE.
