Benefit concert soundly supported

They came, they saw – they delivered.

Sunshine Coast music-lovers got right behind Sunday's Sound Support concert intent – to raise $50,000 for the Premier’s Flood Appeal – and received a wonderful day’s entertainment, courtesy of some high-quality musical talent.

Headline acts, the John Butler Trio and Kate Miller-Heidke also delivered, supported by local bands The Floating Bridges, Band of Frequencies and The Fabulous Green Machine.

They all proved more than enough to attract a huge audience for the Caloundra Events Centre fundraising event.

Coast Mayor – and Fabulous Green Machine front-man – Bob Abbot said the atmosphere at the event was electrifying.

"The turn-out was wonderful; I would like to specially thank all those who bought tickets." he said.

"This event has shown the people of the Coast in their best, true light.

"They are generous, supportive and always ready to help their neighbours."

Cr Abbot said the organisers had hoped to generate $50,000 to the appeal, which will go to help fellow Queenslanders get back on their feet following the January floods and cyclones.

"They did a brilliant job – and hit their target," he said.

"I would also like to offer my deepest thanks to all of the artists for their time and commitment, to the local businesses who donated their services, and to all the staff and volunteers who contributed their time to ensure the event ran smoothly.

"Your efforts have paid off – take a bow, every one of you," the mayor said.
