Caloundra Music Festival: who’s playing?
  • Thursday 30 July 2009

The headline acts to appear at this year’s Caloundra Music Festival will be announced at Kings Beach Pool on Friday – including an all-time favourite Aussie band and an international performer who has never before played on the Sunshine Coast.

Festival director Richie Eyles has just finished signing the contracts on an outstanding line-up of classic acts, as well as younger artists just peaking in popularity and talent.

Mr Eyles said he couldn’t be happier with the quality of acts in this year’s line-up, which will appeal to all ages and tastes.

“This year’s festival is bigger and better than ever before – I think it will blow people away with its variety of talent and musical styles,” he said.

“It has developed into exactly the kind of festival we hoped it would, with the pulling power to attract some big name acts from Australia and overseas.”

Tickets to the festival, to be held at Kings Beach from 22 to 25 October, have been out-selling all previous years’ records and are expected go into orbit once the first of the festival’s substantial line-up is announced.

The festival will also feature top local bands and performers including surf music star Pico, indie pop-folk-fusion talent Lara-Jane and 17-year-old singer/songwriter Andrew Redford.

All three will be available for photo opportunities at Kings Beach on Friday.

The festival is supported by the Sunshine Coast Council to bring a quality, family-friendly event to the Sunshine Coast. A Community Village, supported by Stockland, will operate alongside the festival as a non-ticketed event on the Kings Beach foreshore to showcase local talent and offer workshops run by community groups.
