Sunshine Coast Council Mayor, Bob Abbot, and Division 2 Councillor, Tim Dwyer will unveil a large roving billboard declaring Caloundra as Queensland’s Tidiest Town after it was named the winner of the coveted award in early September.
The prestigious award includes approximately $50,000 worth of Outdoor Advertising from Paradise & Bishopp Outdoor Advertising stretching out over a 12 month period – a prize sure to bring Caloundra to the attention of the tourist drive market.
"This is a fabulous pat on the back for the people of Caloundra. A genuine indication of the hard work and efforts put in on behalf of the community and Council,” Cr Abbot said.
"As this banner moves right around Queensland, we will let the people of the State know what a great place Caloundra is,” he said.
Councillor Dwyer was delighted that Caloundra out-performed 173 other entrants to claim the coveted title.
“The Caloundra Tidy Towns Action Group Volunteers and council staff have worked hard to come up with this result,” Cr Dwyer said.
“It is great to see how Council and the community can work together to maintain and improve Caloundra to make it an even better place to visit and live,” he said.
“It’s testament that we’re all working together to become more environmentally friendly and moving towards a sustainable future by being clean, green and energy efficient.”
Caloundra will now go on to contest the Australian Tidy Towns Awards in April next year.
