Sunshine Coast Council today congratulated digital media and software development firm, Tracknology, as it celebrated its first birthday on the Coast and outlined future plans.

Visiting Tracknology’s new offices at Caloundra today, council’s Economic Development and Entrepreneurship portfolio Councillor Lew Brennan said he applauded Tracknology’s owners, Steve and Lisa Walsh, for defying global economic challenges and growing a thriving business of nine staff.

“I met Steve when he first came to the region and selected the Sunshine Coast as the launch pad for his growing business,” Cr Brennan said.

“Steve understood the benefits of relocating Tracknology to the Sunshine Coast and in building a team that would manage a variety of programs whilst he focused on developing innovative technology solutions,” he said.

“It’s pleasing to see on the firm’s first anniversary, that the business resources and advantages this region provides are helping to diversify the economy by building new employment generators outside the region’s traditional industry sectors.”

“This is what council’s Economic Development Strategy is all about and I wish Steve and his firm continued business success,” Cr Brennan said.

“Tracknology now plans further expansion with an innovative arrangement with Meridan State College to provide work placement opportunities for up to 20 students in 2011.

“This is a fantastic initiative from one of our new businesses on the Coast – the type of business that we want to attract to and nurture in the region,” Cr Brennan said.

Reflecting on the firm’s achievements thus far, Steve Walsh credits the outcome to having a firm eye on identifying future industry trends and then positioning his business to respond.

“I believed a particular shift in the future of digital communications was on its way,” Steve said.

“Tracknology was able to respond by custom-building a product and service portfolio to cater for this anticipated shift in market requirements – so far we have been successful in this strategy.”

Tracknology specialise in work order and work flow management solutions that transform mobile devices into wireless business platforms. Tracknology has secured many globally significant clients, including being the region’s first dedicated Vodafone business dealership.
