If you visit Jessica Park on Nicklin Way in Minyama, council would like to hear from you by tomorrow (Friday) to help with plans to improve the park.
Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said the existing ponds would be the focus of improvements.
“There are two constructed ponds in Jessica Park and council would like the community’s input before we decide the ponds’ futures,” Cr Connolly said.
“Subject to community feedback, council will consider filling the northern pond to provide additional open space and reduce ongoing safety issues.
“We will also undertake further assessment of the southern pond and improve drainage in the park.”
This community consultation and proposed improvements follow investigations that show the ponds have poor water quality and safety issues, and are expensive to maintain. The northern pond also has structural issues that prevent it from holding water for prolonged periods of time.
Residents can complete a short survey before 5pm Friday October 14.
