Community conference kicks off

The Sunshine Coast Council’s two-day community conference commences today.

Councillors, staff and 70 members of the community are working together to develop a better understanding the future needs and aspirations of the Sunshine Coast. Information gathered during the conference will assist council in the development of its corporate plan for the next five years.

Deputy Mayor Cr Tim Dwyer said the corporate plan is an important strategic tool for council, as it sets our vision and future priorities.

“The corporate plan provides a basis for all decision-making and policy development within council,” Cr Dwyer said.

“This longer term strategic planning process then flows into council’s annual operational plans and budgets.

“Council values the opinions and thoughts of our community and this conference is a great way for our locals to talk openly and directly with councillors and staff.

“We all love the Coast and want to keep it in great shape for our kids and future generations. This is about developing a common understanding of what we want for the future of the Sunshine Coast region,” Cr Dwyer said.
