Community feedback wanted on Peregian Beach Park
  • Tuesday 19 June 2012

Community feedback is being sought about one of Peregian’s most popular recreational parks, the Peregian Beach Park. Sunshine Coast Council is eager to learn about how residents currently use the park and receive any suggestions about what people would like to see improved or changed in the future.

From Monday 25 June – Friday 13 July, a short, printed survey will be available at key locations in Peregian Beach Village for people to share their views. All survey responses must be received by close of business Friday 13 July.

Division 11 Councillor Russell Green said that Peregian Beach Park was a much loved community asset that fulfilled multiple roles including passive and active recreation, lifesaving functions and as a venue for musical events and markets.

"The Peregian Beach Park contributes greatly to the overall character of the Peregian Village precinct and is a key social and economic hub in the area," Cr Green said.

"We’re keen to hear from locals about how they currently use the park and what, if any improvements are required to help us best plan for the park’s long-term future."

Cr Green said that consultation activities to date had provided the project team with some excellent information. ?

Random interviews have been conducted with users in the park and meetings held with major community groups - such as Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving Club; Peregian Originals; Peregian Markets, Peregian Community House and others.

Feedback from the interviews and the survey results will guide the design of a Landscape Concept Plan. The Plan will provide a framework for the design and construction of any potential improvements, as well as identify priorities for the park including staging, timelines and funding.?

The Landscape Concept Plan is expected to be implemented over the next five years (2012-2017), subject to funding.
