The Sunshine Coast Council’s draft master plan for Ewen Maddock Park will go on display for public comment from tomorrow (Friday June 20).
Division One Councillor Anna Grosskreutz said the plan will provide direction for future recreational and environmental developments around the park.
“We really want to maximise the potential for the community to use and enjoy the recreational space, while creating the best possible landscape amenity and preserving the area’s environmental values,’’ Cr Grosskreutz said.
She said the plan will deliver some excellent outcomes for the local community and all who visit the park.
“Key features proposed in the plan include a boat ramp, an upgrade of the swimming zone beach area and a 100m water’s edge timber boardwalk featuring a shelter, seating and interpretive signage.”
The plan also outlines improvements to the entry area and the internal connections within the park as well as landscaping of Cobb and Co Coach House gardens and formalisation of car parking areas. The Coach House will also feature interpretive signage for both historical and environmental education.
Landscape screening around the new water treatment plant is also proposed.
The revised master plan builds on previous planning and was funded by the State Government following its resumption of open space at the park to build a water treatment plant. The State Government agreed to provide funding for revised master planning, and design and construction of various items in the park.
The Ewen Maddock Park Master Plan goes on public display for three weeks from tomorrow, Friday 20 June, until Monday 14 July.
It can be viewed at the Cobb and Co Coach House, Ewen Maddock Park, Mooloolah Valley and at the Beerwah, Caloundra and Maleny branch libraries. Reply paid comment forms will be available at the displays
