Community to have a say on meeting space in Kawana Forest
  • Saturday 30 July 2011

Community members are invited to have their say on the Sunshine Coast Council’s draft design for a community meeting space in Kawana Forest by visiting the site of the future facility.

Division 1 Councillor Anna Grosskreutz said that it’s an important opportunity for local residents to meet with council officers and members of the Kawana Forest Community Residents’ Association to discuss how the facility can best meet community needs.

"This is an exciting opportunity for the community to contribute to the design of this great community resource," said Cr Grosskreutz.

"I will also be on site to hear what the community have to say about what they want from their new facility.

"The Kawana Forest community meeting space will provide a multipurpose and flexible venue for the community to meet and undertake a wide range of social, educational and recreational activities.

"We want the building to be a showcase for innovative, environmentally responsive and cost-effective design.

"The facility is intended to complement the larger and more specialised meeting spaces provided at the Pacific Lutheran College, Meridan Sports Fields and Lake Kawana Community Centre."

The meeting will be held on Sunday 7 August between 1.00pm and 3.00pm on the corner of Woodlands Boulevard and Carbeen Place, Kawana Forest (if it is raining, the event will be held in the Pacific Lutheran College sports auditorium). Council officers and members of the design team will be on site to answer questions and listen to feedback from the community.

If people are unable to attend the meeting they can view a copy of the design on council’s website, and make comments on the, ‘have your say’ section.
