Media are invited to a photo and interview opportunity to meet some of the entertainers and key organisers of the inaugural ‘Coolum Fiesta’, to be held in conjunction with the official opening of the new Coolum Retail Precinct on 11December 2009.

A celebration in the community space of Coolum Retail is to take place following the official opening by Watpac Development, and incorporate the official opening of a new shelter at Pt Perry at 4.15pm, along with the lighting of the community Christmas Tree at 7pm.

Cr Vivien Griffin will officiate at both the Pt Perry and Christmas Tree lighting events, whilst MP Fiona Simpson will join with Coolum Primary School students to sing a Christmas carol tribute.

The Coolum Fiesta is being presented by Coolum Business and Tourism Association, with the support of Watpac, the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Coolum Cliffs Boardwalk committee, Coolum beach Surf Lifesaving Club, Coolum State School, Coolum Residents Association and Coolum Beach Bowls Club.

The Fiesta will be part of what is shaping up to be a week-long celebration in Coolum. The surf Lifesaving club will also be re-launching themselves with a series of special events leading up to a December 12 official opening of new renovations by Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan.

President of Coolum Business and Tourism, Judy Osborne will join Cr Vivien Griffin and a variety of performers and key stakeholders for interviews and photos from 1pm, Friday 27 November.
