Council calls for locals with artistic flair

Sunshine Coast Council is looking for people with an interest in the arts to help assess grant applications across the region.

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Committee is a local advisory group made up of artists and cultural workers across the Coast. They will be responsible for assessing arts grant applications totalling $177,000 this year.

Community Policy and Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay called on artists to consider joining the RADF Committee for a two year position – a challenging yet rewarding task.

“Past committee members have found the role very worthwhile, as it provides an insight into the talent and potential of the cultural sector here on the Coast,” Cr McKay said.

Meeting five times a year, members will receive training on the RADF program to manage the assessment of over 100 applications, she said.

Nominations to join the RADF Committee close 30 July 2010. To find out more, contact a RADF Liaison Officer on 5441 8352 or visit Council's website.
