Council gives draft Community Plan the thumbs up
  • Wednesday 17 November 2010

Council endorsed the first cut of the Draft Sunshine Coast Community Plan today – it will now be sent back to the attendees of the Community Conference and advisory committees for their comment.

Cr Tim Dwyer said that as the Community Plan informs all of Council’s planning documents it is one of the most important documents ever produced by the Sunshine Coast Council.

"We are taking the time to get it right – this Plan will have a bearing on almost every decision Sunshine Coast Council will make over the next 20 years," Cr Dwyer said.

"Endorsing the first draft today is a significant step in the development of the plan – the first quality check.

"Now it means we can go back to those people who helped us develop the draft and make sure they are happy with it prior to it going out to the general public for comment.

"We’ve really tried to capture what the community has been telling us about how they would like to see the Sunshine Coast develop over the next 20 years.

"For this reason, we’ve illustrated the plan with images and captions submitted by the community for the recent Zooming into 2030 project."

A revised draft will be open for the general public to provide comments and feedback in February/March 2011 and a final document will be bought back to council for adoption in April 2011.
