Council hits the beaches

Sunshine Coast Council officers will be on Noosa Main Beach along with other Coast beaches on Wednesday 4 January conducting surveys with beachgoers.

Division 11 Councillor Russell Green said the purpose of the survey was to improve the data that we have on holiday visitors during the peak season.

"In order to understand more about the people who are visiting our region and its popular beaches, there is a need to get out and talk to them. This information will be highly valuable as an indicator of council’s work, allowing council to better target our planning and delivery activities.

"Two clearly identified council officers will be conducting interviews between the flags throughout the day, asking questions on where they are from, where they are staying and how they got to the beach," Cr Green said.

Tourism Noosa General Manager Di Ainsworth said this is a great initiative that complements Tourism Noosa's research strategy.

"This specific survey conducted during the summer break will no doubt assist council and Tourism Noosa to ensure the visitor experience whilst in the region continues to be met well into the future," she said.
