Council releases Noosa Business Centre Planning Study
  • Friday 06 February 2009

Sunshine Coast Regional Council has approved the Noosa Business Centre (NBC) Planning Study paving the way for a period of community consultation on the Eenie Creek Road site.

The Study evaluates future employment needs and the mix of retail and business uses for residents in the northern half of the Sunshine Coast; highlights the traffic challenges facing the NBC and suggests improvements for better urban design and pedestrian and cyclist access.

Statutory and Regional Planning Portfolio Cr. Russell Green welcomed the release of the Study and invited the community to continue their involvement in its planning to ensure great community outcomes.

“Council has undertaken an extensive review of the former Noosa Shire Business Centre Master Plan and agreed on this direction for the Noosa Business Centre, as it is now called,” Cr Green said.

“It’s now time for the community to have their say and I’m urging everyone interested to look at the report, to talk with friends and neighbours about it and to provide feedback to council during the public consultation period.”

After the consultation period Council will consider feedback and initiate any necessary changes to The Noosa Plan.

The Planning Study will be available for public viewing from Tuesday 10 February at the Tewantin Chambers in Pelican Street, the Noosa Library, council’s customer service centre in Ocean Street, Maroochydore and from council’s website www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au

CD copies of the study will be available free of charge on request.

Submissions on the Planning Study will be received until 4.00pm on Wednesday 11 March, 2009.
