Council services and opening hours over Christmas/New Year
  • Wednesday 10 December 2008

Need to do council business over the festive season? Don’t forget that the three Sunshine Coast Council offices will be closed from 2pm Christmas Eve and on all the public holidays.

Council offices at Tewantin, Nambour and Caloundra will close from 2pm (1.30pm for Customer Service Centres) on Christmas Eve and re-open at 8.30am on Monday 29 December.

Then, the three offices will close again on Thursday 1 January and Friday 2 January, before resuming normal business hours from Monday 5 January 2009.

However, essential council services, including regular kerbside waste collection and lifeguard patrols, will operate as usual over the holiday break.

And if you’ve got excess rubbish over the holidays, don’t forget that Nambour landfill will be open on Christmas Day between 6am and noon. For those after a holiday read, council libraries will be closed on all public holidays, so get in early.

Council’s meeting cycle will restart on 20 January, 2009, with an Organisation Performance Committee meeting at the Caloundra Chambers from 9am.

Council is offering a full holiday program with more than 130 activities across the region for individuals and families. Activities run from the 1 December to the 26 January. Highlights include Mountain Bike Riding, Playstation Playoffs, Hip Hop Workshops and screenings of the Silly Billy's movie amongst many other exciting things.

For bookings and/or information about the festive holiday calendar visit the council website at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au. Sunshine Coast councillors and staff wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year.
