Councils working together

Sunshine Coast Council and Moreton Bay Council have met in Caloundra in the first joint meeting to discuss issues of shared interest.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said the council have a lot in common.

"We don’t just share a border – we have many of the same challenges and opportunities," Mr Jamieson said.

WE see this meeting as another part of steps towards closer communications and co-operation between the two councils.

"From my first day as Mayor I said teamwork was an important part of making Sunshine Coast successful.

"As a council we have worked well together and we also need to work well with other councils, the state government and the federal government.

"If we get the teamwork happening at all levels we will be able to deliver some great results for this region and beyond."

The meeting included the Mayors and Councillors from both regions, and the next joint meeting will be held at Moreton Bay.
